Senior Engineer (Multi-Disciplined Role) - UK Wide - Telecare and Security Systems

Responsibilities
It is anticipated that this role will be circa 50% office based and 50% field-based and that the candidate will be based locally in Doncaster. A company van or car allowance of £500 per month is available. The candidate will be expected to work on a 1 in 2 callouts ( 1 week on Call / 1 week off ), plus some holiday and sickness cover. Due to the high salary band of this position, we are looking to recruit a high calibre, flexible person with the appropriate level of skills and experience who has a can-do attitude to completing tasks efficiently and on time
This all-encompassing role, will include, Project Management of Installations and responsive servicing to equipment faults to strict timescales
You must be fully skilled and experienced in Telecare (Warden Call) and Security Systems (Door Entry/Access Control and CCTV). Experience in the installation and servicing of Swing Door Auto-Operators and being an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor would be a distinct advantage providing you meet all the other requirements
Hours of Work:
Standard Hours of 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.30 am until 5.00 pm ( on-site ) The candidate will be expected to work on 1 in 2 callouts ( 1 week on Call / 1 week off ), plus some holiday and sickness cover. Overtime is payable outside the hours of 6.00 PM while 8.00 AM on normal working days and on Saturdays at a time plus one half, and double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Days off in Lieu can be taken instead of the overtime rate subject to Management approval
Remuneration:
£40,000 to £50,000 Basic Salary – (Depending on Location, Qualifications, and Experience).
Objectives of the Post:
To provide the highest quality engineering services to the full range of company and third-party products in an efficient and professional manner, continually meeting or exceeding given performance targets. The jobholder shall at all times consider the needs of the customer first and be able to demonstrate exceptional customer relationships and interpersonal skills. You will provide a high level of technical expertise and ensure quality workmanship in the repair of our client’s products. The overall service provision is necessary 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Customer expectations are continually increasing and there is a focus on fixing faults on the first visit. Additional ‘value-added’ services, such as preventative maintenance checks, provide a significant proportion of service revenue. It is a fundamental requirement that these expectations can be met through the dedicated application of technical, interpersonal and customer relationship skills which positively promote the company in the delivery of world-class service.
Duties:
Project Management
- To undertake Project Management duties such as
- Pre-start detailed technical evaluation and site survey
- Technical and Commercial understanding of the project
- Planning and scheduling the tasks of the project
- Appointment of labour, either in-house or sub-contract and giving detailed written instructions to that labour on the tasks to be undertaken and the time/cost allocation
- Providing a costed build BOM
- Customer liaison
- Site visits during the project work
- Quality control
- Post-inspection of works
- Completion of technical handover documents such as “As fitted wiring diagrams”, BOMS and commissioning forms for signature by the client
- Compile H&S documents such as RAMS and Safe Systems of work taking advice from our Health and Safety Manager
- Financial control and reporting of the project, highlighting any un-forecasted additional costs and savings
- Monthly reports on WiP and forecasts for senior management.
- To repair and maintain existing equipment and systems across the full range of products.
- To continually exceed performance targets in the areas of productivity, quality of workmanship, first fix rate, stock control and attendance at work.
- To demonstrate a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of all the company’s core products both in their repair and functionality.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and first-line repairs to key products and systems to ensure potentially disruptive issues are proactively averted.
- To provide technical assistance and training to other members of the team and customers as directed by the Company.
- Identify issues that lessen customer satisfaction and actively participate in their resolution and future prevention, while adhering to the company’s policies and procedures.
- To be able and willing to work outside geographical boundaries, to demonstrate co-operation and flexibility in meeting the demands of customers throughout the business.
- Assisting with installation-related activities such as; site visits/commissioning/surveying etc. Undertake installation work. The ability to commission new installations prior to their handover ensures maximum customer satisfaction.

- Be part of a standby rota to support all company products. The candidate will be expected to work on a 1 in 2 callouts ( 1 week on Call / 1 week off ), plus some holiday and sickness cover
- To carry out site surveys, prepare quotations and other sales-related duties
- Away from home, an overnight stay is a requirement of this job where we need cover. It is estimated that this will be between 10% and 20% of the year

Requirements
- Must be able to demonstrate with supporting documentation that you have the skills required to fulfil this position
- Must have 1st class man management and technical experience in the sector that we operate and be able to communicate at all levels
- A CRB check or similar check will be required as directed by the company policy and our client base
- An electrical/electronic qualification equivalent to or above an NVQ level 3 or similar.
- Full clean driving license.
- Be able to demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Be able to demonstrate Customer focus – the customer comes first. Be able to demonstrate effective team working including mentoring/coaching and training others.

- A pass at ONC level, equivalent NVQ Level 3 or demonstrable alternative in a technical discipline (specifically Electrical or Electronic Engineering).
- Comprehensive and in-depth technical understanding of the Electrical and Electronic systems/principles of products and systems that you will be working with
- Ability to demonstrate a good working knowledge of networks and IP-based systems to allow system configuration and fault finding
- The job holder is expected to be able to demonstrate competency in analysing and solving technical issues and ensuring flexibility in undertaking a range of duties from preventative maintenance checks of current/future systems through to repair of the company and third-party products.
